Divers, drones and dogs are continuing to search for a missing swimmer who disappeared beneath the surface of Rock Creek in Anne Arundel County, Maryland, Sunday afternoon.
Maryland Natural Resources police told WTOP they’re looking for man who jumped off a pontoon boat to go after a hat that had fallen in the water.
Officers shifted to a recovery operation Monday morning after first being called about the missing boater at around 4:15 p.m. Sunday, according to听辫辞濒颈肠别.
At the time he jumped in, police said the man was not wearing a lifejacket.
Anne Arundel County Fire Department brought in multiple vessels, divers and unmanned aerial systems teams to search for the man Monday. Divers with the police department are also searching with the help of side-scan sonar and aerial drones.
Chesapeake Search Dogs are scanning the area where the man went underwater.
On Sunday,聽Natural Resources Police, the Anne Arundel County Fire Department, the Baltimore County Fire Department, the Maryland State Police Trooper 6 helicopter and the Coast Guard responded to the scene.
Officers searched for the man until nightfall, when it was too dark for divers to look in the water, according to the Maryland Department of Natural Resources.
The search started back up at around 7 a.m. Monday. Police told WTOP they will continue looking for the man from the surface until the recovery mission is complete.
